COVID-19. #stophateforprofit. Lockdown and quarantine. No school. Zoom conferences. Face masks. Social distancing. Global warming. Unemployment. Economic recessions.
With all these real world problems, why does the world need a book about ice therapy? Why this and why now?
The answer: because this isn’t really a book about ice/cold therapy.
Back in the spring of 2021 when I had the idea for this book called Ice Nation, I was working as a freelance copywriter writing articles about cold water therapy for a client. And at the time I thought that Ice Nation would simply be a fun way to learn more about ice/cold water therapy and connect with the world’s top experts on the subject.
But as I’ve gone deeper into compiling the book, I realised that Ice Nation isn’t just about ice or cold water therapy. Instead, it’s about reclaiming your power in a world swirling with chaos, uncertainty and fear.
That’s what each of the 99 amazingly generous contributors to this book have done and continue to do through the practice of ice and cold water therapy.
Despite their different backgrounds, careers and situations, each of these experts has found that the simple daily practice of immersing yourself in the cold has a powerful ability to unleash all sorts of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual benefits that help you be your best self.
And by focusing on just one thing that you can control, it helps you disconnect - at least in that moment - from all the things that are beyond your control. This is something that is getting more difficult to do in a world where social media and the news continue to train us to stay hooked into the disempowering 24/7 negative news cycles.

And my hope is that when you reach the end of the book...you'll have found whatever you need to leap into the abundantly generous and wide-open-spaced life that is waiting for you to claim it right now.
Because when each of us dares to unsubscribe from fear and anxiety, and focuses on the things that are within our actual control (e.g having a cold shower), then this empowers us to shine and share our unique Light with each other, giving the darkness and hate around us no choice but to disappear. That's what I believe, and hopefully I'm not the only one.
